Beginning in November 2017 and continuing through June 2018, Migration Resource Center will be working in partnership with the New York Immigration Coalition and a grant from the Robin Hood Foundation. Start By Asking is an innovative poverty-fighting campaign designed to connect low-income New Yorkers with the poverty-combating benefits and services they are eligible for and not currently receiving. MRC’s role will be to conduct interview events in neighborhoods that have been identified as having the highest percent of residents not receiving benefits.
The program’s goal is to reduce poverty among New Yorkers by making sure that eligible residents know about and use these effective and under-used programs. Programs such as: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants & Children (WIC), Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Child Tax Credit (CTC).
We are very excited to be part of this program to help our clients and neighbors on their way to a better, healthier life for their families.
